- Cath SA wonderful find, so glad I visited this superb café. Handy for the railway station, the Minster, Theatre Royal and the Tourist Information. Lloyd and Jade were so polite, friendly and courteous, extremely pleasant people. Lovely, clean café and the toilet smelt beautiful too - Molten Brown - very impressed! The café is sited upstairs in the antiques building. It has delightful views from its windows and great background soundtrack playing. All highly pleasant. And the food is exceptional. I had a light meal of poached eggs on toast and they were perfection. And Lloyd's gluten free chocolate cake was utterly delicious. If you visit this café, and you must, you can't leave without trying this cake. It is like eating light, billowy, chocolatey clouds. 🤭🥇🏆 Simply one of the best cakes I have eaten, not at all sticky, heavy, sickly or cloying but fluffy and light as a feather. Yum flippin yum! 😍 I'll be back but not with my uzi 9 millimetre, Arnie. 🤭 Was a delight to meet you bo...
- Karl JThe place was very cosy. The ambiance was really relaxing - very posh and homey. And of course the food - the presentation was excellent and the taste was exquisite. A true fine dining experience but not pricey at all. I actually feel like I should be paying more for the kind of experience and service that I received. Will come back whenever I’m in York.
- Julie MCliché to quote the much used phrase of 'a hidden gem' but my my, what a find. I had covered some research pre visit as I wanted somewhere special to take my fella for a birthday cream tea. These guys did not disappoint. They even threw in complimentary fizz for us 🥂 A fraction of the price of The Grand's cream tea and in my opinion, more choice, more tasty, more value and with more quirky surroundings.
